Girivedh 2007
The year 2007 marked Chakram Hikers silver jubilee year, and it was decided to commemorate the milestone in a distinctive and meaningful way. A proposal was put forward to organize an exhibition of aerial photographs by the renowned photographer Mr. Gopal Bodhe as part of the jubilee celebrations. It was unanimously decided to inaugurate the silver jubilee year with an exhibition showcasing aerial photographs of forts. With great enthusiasm, the members immediately set the plan in motion.
The exhibition was inaugurated on February 4, 2007, with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Rear Admiral Sangramsingh Bais, under the chairmanship of Mr. Abhijit Patil of Rajarani Travels, and in the esteemed presence of Mr. Adhik Shirodkar. The inauguration was graced by numerous dignitaries from diverse fields, as well as officers from the defense services. The energy and involvement of the members were truly remarkable.
Held over four days, the exhibition received wide coverage in newspapers and television news channels and attracted an impressive 5,000 to 7,000 visitors. Distinguished visitors included Hon. Uddhav Thackeray, Dawood Dalvi, office bearers and members of various mountaineering organizations, theatre and film personalities, High Court judges, senior government officials, and many other eminent citizens.
Girivedh 2007 stands as a proud and memorable chapter in Chakram’s history. The successful planning and execution of the exhibition were made possible through the unwavering dedication, hard work, and collective teamwork of all the members.
