Rules & Regulations for Treks
Following are the provisions of Rule 16 (of Chakram Hikers Rule Book) concerning the conduct of treks:
- Every trek shall be led by two designated persons: the Leader, who will always lead from the front, and the Co-Leader, who will remain at the rear.
- All decisions taken by the Leader shall be final and binding on all participants. For the duration of the trek, the Leader’s authority shall supersede that of any Managing Committee Member of the organization.
- All tasks assigned by the Leader must be carried out diligently by every participant. Participants shall adhere strictly to the pre-determined trek schedule.
- Every trekker shall respect and protect the local flora and fauna and shall not deface or damage any monument or property by writing, scribbling, or any other means.
- While overtaking another participant, adequate warning must be given.
- Trekkers shall warn those behind them of any loose rocks or stones dislodged underfoot to help prevent accidents.
- Villagers should be kept informed of any serious situation that may arise during the trek, and assistance should be provided when required.
- Under no circumstances shall any participant move ahead of the Leader or lag behind the Co-Leader.
- No participant shall leave the campsite without prior permission from the Leader or Co-Leader.
- Before leaving a campsite, it must be thoroughly cleaned, and all fires must be completely extinguished.
- The Leader reserves the right to make necessary changes to the trek schedule without prior notice.
- Consumption of liquor and non-vegetarian food is strictly prohibited during the trek or related events.
- Smoking is permitted only at designated areas within campsites and is strictly prohibited while on the move.
- All trekking, mountaineering, and camping equipment must be handled and maintained with due care.
- Every participant shall conduct themselves in accordance with the objectives of the club and shall not act in any manner that may harm its reputation.
- Any violation of rules, instructions, or instances of rude or inappropriate behavior shall invite strict disciplinary action.
- Participants wishing to join a trek must submit their names along with the requisite fee to the Leaders prior to the trek.
- Each participant must carry a packed lunch, cap, appropriate footwear, water bottle, torch, plate, spoon, glass, and personal medicines for every trek. A detailed list will be shared during the pre-trek briefing.
- Hiking, trekking, and rock climbing are adventure activities, and accidents may occur in spite of taking all necessary safety precautions, utmost caution and care. The club shall not be held responsible for any injury, accident, or death during the trek.
- The club shall not be responsible for the loss of any personal belongings of the participants.
