Peth (Kothaligad) Kaulyachi Dhaar Padarwadi Nakhinda Ghat Ambivali Trek
Trek Report
Peth (Kothaligad)–Kaulyachi Dhaar–Padarwadi–Nakhinda Ghat–Ambivali trek
Leader: Rajashri Kamath
Co-leader: Mahesh Kendurkar, Arun Kumbhar
Trek on the first day was executed perfectly as planned. Ambivali to Peth is the most commonly used route to Kothaligad. The route from Peth to Kothaligad is a gradual climb through forest patch, boulders and rocky patches. Peth to Kaulyachi dhaar is very slippery during monsoon. There are two rock patches on the route. Though there is not much exposure, caution needs to be exercised. After reaching Padarwadi, there was continuous downpour of rains throughout the night. The second day plan had to be changed keeping in mind the safety of the participants and the weather condition. The leaders decided not to continue ascending to Bhimashankar as there are multiple streams to cross and because of the torrential rains the level of had considerably risen (as conveyed by the locals). This was clearly communicated to the participants who were in complete agreement with the decision. The group decided to take the route from Padarwadi to Nakhinda ghat-Pethwadi-Ambivali. The group reached safely at 2.10 pm in Ambivali.
Note: There is one water stream to cross the route from Nakhinda Ghat to Ambivali where rope had to be fixed so all could cross safely.
